Prisma Health acquires urgent care centers across South Carolina
Acquisition expands access to Prisma Health Urgent Care services for patients in their local communities
Greenville, S.C. — Prisma Health today announced an agreement to acquire 36 urgent care locations in South Carolina (formerly Doctor's Care) from Novant Health, expanding access to convenient, high-quality care for communities across the state. The acquisition includes approximately 500 team members.
Following the close, expected November 1, 2026, the centers will operate under Prisma Health Urgent Care.
Current patients will continue to receive care without interruption during the transition. Patients will continue to have access to walk-in and virtual care services, including respiratory testing, X-rays, and labs. Now, they also will have connections to Prisma Health's network of primary, specialty and hospital-based care when needed.
“Access to timely, high-quality care is essential to the health of our communities," said Dr. Jonathan Gleason, executive vice president and chief clinical officer for Prisma Health. “Adding these clinics to our network expands access to Prisma Health’s scope of services across South Carolina and strengthens the connection between convenient, same-day care and our broad network of providers, specialists and hospitals.”
“The team members joining Prisma Health Urgent Care in this transition bring extensive experience and a shared commitment to putting patients first,” said Steven Celestina, regional vice president of operations for Prisma Health Urgent Care. “Their dedication to the communities they serve will help ensure patients continue to receive the compassionate, high-quality care they depend on every day.”
Prisma Health Urgent Care is committed to accessibility and availability of care. While the vast majority of centers will remain in their current locations, a small number may be relocated to a neighboring center.
Supporting team members throughout this transition is a top priority for Prisma Health Urgent Care. The goal is to retain urgent care team members, with those impacted by any site consolidation offered positions at neighboring centers.
